Summer 2008

The WNC Health Coalition moves to a new location! We added more space to accommodate our expanded member services. We are now in Biltmore Park with easy access from I-26 at Long Shoals Road to make finding us much easier. The Two Town Square building is right in the center of this exciting, rapidly growing, new community.

Spring 2008

The National Business Coalition on Health awarded the WNC Health Coalition a substantial grant for expansion of the Asheville Project! We will use this grant to install the Asheville Project Diabetes Program in a small WNC community. We also plan to institute our project with smaller employers and uninsured participants. We anticipate the same clinical improvements as have been demonstrated in large, self-insured employer sites. We'll keep you posted!

Spring 2008

26 members attended the Annual Membership Meeting at Givens Estates. Joe Damore, the CEO of Mission Hospitals, talked about Mission's accomplishments, the vision for the future and the collaborative relationship between Mission and the Coalition. Dr. Martha Salyers, the team leader of the Public Health Regional Surveillance Team 6, and Chris Emory, Buncombe County Preparedness Coordinator, provided a great deal of valuable information and resources regarding preparation for pandemic influenza. Spring 2007

Its official - The Coalition is a Leapfrog Regional Rollout! The Leapfrog Group is a national initiative that works to kick off breakthrough improvements in the safety, quality and affordability of healthcare for all Americans. The Coalition will facilitate the essential regional collaboration to begin measuring and recognizing healthcare quality "leaps" in our community. Several of our regional hospitals are now Leapfrog hospitals and their quality scores are available on the Leapfrog web site. Check it out at www.leapfroggroup.org.
